Abstract
1371157 Metal working presses GULF & WESTERN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS CO 6 Nov 1972 51158/72 Headings B3H and B3Q A press has a knockout bar assembly mounted on its slide B to operate ejectors in the upper press tool as the slide is raised after a working stroke, the assembly comprising elongated bars 48 which are moved downwards relative to the slide by operating devices on the press frame. The assembly is made up of one or more parallel knockout bars 48, Fig. 2, positioned in slots 46 in the slide B and connected at their ends by cross bars 52 which are in turn connected by connecting bars E. The bars E are each acted upon by a pair of horizontal arms 126, Fig. 3, of a double armed lever pivoted at 116 and whose other arm 124 carries a cam follower roller 132 which co-operated with a cam surface 114 fixed to the press frame. The bars E are urged upwards away from the slide B by pneumatic piston-cylinder units (H), Fig. 4 (not shown). The slide B is guided on columns 12 of the press frame and is driven by an eccentric (20), Fig. 1 (not shown). The press may be a multistage press wherein the knockout bars operate a set of ejector pins as the slide is raised.
