Abstract

1370547 Watches BERNHARD FORSTER 11 July 1972 [22 July 1971] 32307/72 Heading G3T A self-winding mechanism for a watch comprises a rotor 1 which fixedly carries a concentric drive pinion 3 and thus drives, when the rotor moves in the direction of arrow A, a reversing gear 4 and a gear 5 coupled to an output pinion 12. When the rotor moves in the direction of arrow B, the reversing gear 4 is uncoupled and a ratchet wheel 7 which is freely mounted on the ,pinion 3 is locked to the rotor by means of a pawl 9 pivoted thereon so that a gear ring 10 of the ratchet wheel drives a gear 11 fixed to the gear 5, thus rotating the pinion 12 in the same direction as before. The pinion drives a mainspring ratchet wheel (15), Fig. 2 (not shown) via gears (13, 14). To permit easy disassembly, the rotor 1, which is pivoted on a pin (2), is restrained axially by a finger 17 of a plate 16 over-lying the pinion 3. The plate 16 is pivoted at 21 and normally held by a screw 19 through a keyhole slot 18. The plate 16 can thus be swung to an intermediate position Fig. 4 (not shown) in which the rotor is removable but the reversing gear 4 and the gear part 5, 11, 12 are still retained. If the screw 19 is removed, the plate 16 can be further displaced Fig. 5 (not shown) for removal of these gears.
