Abstract
1370469 Matrix displays OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 15 Sept 1971 [15 Sept 1970] 41182/71 Heading G5C A display system comprises a gas discharge and memory panel 10 including crossed row and column conductor arrays R 1 C insulated from the gas, sustain voltage sources 25, 35, means 24, 33 in series with the sustain voltage sources for applying auxiliary pulses during each half cycle of the sustain voltage, read and erase pulse voltage sources 15, 30, and means 18, 31 for operating selected sources 15, 30 simultaneously with the auxiliary pulse sources. The auxiliary pulse means reduce the magnitude of the read and erase pulses and allow the use of low voltage integrated circuits. The outputs of means 24, 33 are added to the sinusoidal, square or triangular sustain voltages, the resultant waveform 38R, 38C remaining as a sustain voltage. Only when the output of sources 15, 30 are added is a write or erase signal produced.
