Abstract

1370057 Pontoon bridges; piers K L WALLIN 12 May 1972 [12 May 1971] 22465/72 Headings E1G and E1H [Also in Division A6] A support structure for a pier or a bridge comprises a base portion 1 and a pair of side portions 2 on opposite sides of the base portions each side portion being provided with a lip portion 3 facing the base portion and forming a continuous transition between the side portion and the base portion, and covering material 4 on the base portion, the lip portions and at least part of -the side portions. The side portions may be hollow so that adjacent sections of the structure can be joined by insert pieces 7 held by screws 8 and vertical adjustment means 5 can be incorporated in the side portions. Straight and angular structures may be joined in various arrangements (Figs. 3 to 5, not shown). The support structures may be mounted on pontoon structures 10, 11 (Fig. 8) for the construction of piers or bridges, the adjusting device 5 being replaced by lateral fixing blocks 9.
