Abstract

1369679 Aerating liquids AMES CROSTA MILLS & CO Ltd 25 Aug 1972 [26 May 1971] 17184/71 Heading B1C A surface aerator comprises a carrier A rotatable in. a pre-determined direction and mounting a ring of blades B each of which has a main portion adapted to throw outwardly the liquid on which it acts and a lower portion inclined forwardly in the direction of carrier rotation to impart an upward component to the discharge. As shown the blades B are flat plates with a lower carrier bent along a line H; in other embodiments two such plates may be placed edge to edge, or the blades may be V- section or arcuate section vertical channels closed at the bottom by an inclined baffle, see Figs. 4-9, not shown. The blades may be inclined to the axis of the carrier and/or raked forwardly or rearwardly; there may be a deflector above the areator and an uptake tube below it.
