Abstract

1367132 Crash restraint bags NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 14 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 32961/71 Heading B7B A crash restraint bag 13 normally fitted within a dished steering wheel 10 of a motor vehicle is inflated by pressurized gas from a container 16 communicating with the bag through the steering column 11 and a duct 18 normally closed by means responsive to an impact on the vehicle. An additional bag 19 positioned adjacent a driver's lance is also inflated by gas within the container 16. The duct 18 may be opened upon deformation of a collapsible portion 11a of the column.
