Abstract

136,700. Barneveld, T. A. Feb. 6, 1919. Folding cycles.-In a foldable bicycle the head is hinged to the front of the frame, and the seat post, which is detachable, is adapted, when the parts are folded, to be carried by the head. The frame comprises side members A, B, D connected to a tenon upon the head F by an ordinary bolt and nut L and by a hinged bolt M and wing-nut O. The saddle post engages with a pillar of perforated plates C<1>, C<2> upon the frame and is retained in position by spring catches K. In folding the machine, the post is detached, and the wing- nut O slackened and the bolt M swung back. The handle-bar stem and front fork are then reversed and the head hinged above the bolt L, the saddle post being secured to the stem by clips P.
