1364647 Automatic circuit-breakers SIEMENS AG 11 Nov 1971 [13 Nov 1970] 52512/71 Heading H1N An overload trip device for a circuit-breaker comprises a yoke 2 which is magnetized by the current in a conductor, e.g. a bus-bar 1, a main trip armature 6 carried by a pivoted arm 7, an auxiliary armature 13 adjacent an air gap 12 in the yoke 2 and a pin 15 extending between the armatures. Normally the armature 13 is attracted, but should the current become excessive then the armature 6 is strongly attracted towards the yoke and moves the armature 13 away from the yoke, so that the restraining force provided by the armature 13 rapidly diminishes as the force acting on the armature 6 rapidly increases, so that a high speed tripping action is obtained. Light springs 8, 14 restore the armatures to their initial positions.
