Abstract

1364136 Vacuum impregnation of webs KLEINENEFERS INDUSTRIE-COMPANIE GmbH 24 Aug 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 39481/72 Heading D1L Apparatus for the impregnation of a web of textile material comprises a rotatable roller 4 partly immersed in a bath 9 of impregnating liquid (e.g. dye solution); a vacuum device 11 located adjacent the roller 4 and extending into the bath 9, the device comprising a hood 12 formed by a curved plate 15 and an endless resilient sealing strip mounted in a channel formed in the plate to abut firmly over its whole length against the roller 4 and enclose a circumferential portion 4b of the roller (see also Fig. 2, not shown) a pipe 13 attached to a vacuum pump (not shown) for evacuating the hood 12, and a pipe 14 through which any liquid seeping into the hood may be removed; and means comprising a stretching roller 3, an immersed guide roller 6 and nip rollers 7, 8 for guiding the web between the roller and the vacuum device to be degassed and into and through the bath 9 of impregnating liquid. The apparatus may be used in an impregnating padder [Fig. 3, not shown] when the liquid bath may be arranged in the form of a weir which is kept at a constant level by circulation of the impregnating liquid, a jacking device (44) may be provided for raising and lowering the height of the bath relative to the roller 4 and means (38) may be provided for moving the vacuum device away from or towards the roller 4 to adjust the pressure with which the sealing strip presses the web 1 against the roller.
