Abstract

1363738 Protective arrangements; control of A.C. motors KOMBINAT VEB MESSGERATEWERK ZWONITZ GERATEWERK KARLMARX-STADT 25 Oct 1971 49508/71 Headings' H2J and H2K A protective arrangement for a motor M, e.g. of a teleprinter, comprises first means W1 responsive to the temperature of the motor, second means G, L responsive to the speed of the motor, and third means operative on response of the first and/or second means to break the supply circuit to the motor in the event of high temperature or low speed. As shown, the first means W1 is a positive temperature coefficient resistor inside the motor and connected in series with a transistor T1 across a capacitor C2. A device G driven by the motor induces pulses in a coil L connected to the base of the transistor T1. When the temperature is high or the speed is low, the average conduction of the transistor is low, so that the capacitor C2 charges until a Zener diode D2 breaks down causing a transistor T2 to conduct and energize a relay X. The relay X opens its contacts x to cause a switching apparatus F to effect disconnection from a telegraph line a, b and the operation of a relay Y which opens its contacts y1 to disconnect the motor M.
