Abstract

1363721 Stackable sacks BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd 28 March 1972 [21 April 1971] 10473/71 Heading B8K [Also in Division B5] To imprive stability upon stacking a sack of plastics film comprises a front panel 1 and a rear panel 2 each having at least on the outer surface thereof a first series of ribs 4 and a second series of ribs 5 set at right angles to the first series, the ribs being arranged so that a part of each quarter of a panel is ribbed. Two pairs of first and second series of ribs (4a-5b, Fig. 2) per panel may be provided. The sack may be formed from lay-flat tubing provided with a bottom heat seal 3 and may be made from lowdensity polythene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride. Both surfaces of each panel may be provided with ribs by a cold forming impressing process comprising passing either each sack or the lay-flat tubing between pairs of helical gears. Alternatively, the outer surface alone of each panel may be provided with ribs by passing the film, which may be prewarmed, between embossing rollers which may be heated.
