1362611 Smoking mixtures IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Feb 1973 [14 March 1972] 11764/72 Heading A2C A smoking mixture comprises a smoke-producing substrate fortified with nicotine and containing particulate iron oxide and/or titanium dioxide in amount sufficient to increase the stability of the nicotine. The smoke-producing substrate may be tobacco or a tobacco substitute such as a thermally degraded carbohydrate. In the examples thermally degraded α-cellulose was slurried with nicotine and either iron oxide or titanium dioxide, together with glycerol, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, potassium citrate, calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, and the slurries were cast to form sheets.
