Abstract

1361840 Pyridine compounds HORIZONS RESEARCH Inc 30 Dec 1971 [30 Dec 1970] 60877/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Novel substituted pyridines of formula where R 1 and R 2 are each H or -CO.OMe, -CO.OEt, -CO.Me, -CO.CF 3 or -SO 2 Me; and all the Ys are H or O atoms; and acid addition salts thereof, e.g. hydrochloride, hydrobromide, trichloroacetate or sulphate, may be prepared by one of the following methods: (a) 2,6-diamino-3,5-dinitropyridine (A) may be prepared by nitration of 2,6-diaminopyridine. (b) 2,3,5,6-tetraaminopyridine(B) may be prepared by catalytic hydrogenation of (A) in a basic organic solvent. (C) An acid salt of (B) may be prepared by catalytic reduction of (A) in an acid solvent consisting of an inorganic acid and organic compound which is formic acid, acetic acid, a C 1-5 alkanol, or a mixture of two or more thereof. (d) Other compounds may be prepared by adapting one of the above methods or by other known methods. Polymers may be prepared by reacting 2,3,5,6-tetraaminopyridine with a polybasic acid with or without other reactants present (see Division C3].
