Abstract

1361608 Formwork support ACROW (ENGS) Ltd 3 Aug 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 37845/70 Heading E1S [Also in Division F2] A soldier for supporting formwork, e.g. of the lattice girder type, is connected at its ends to adjacent vertically aligned soldiers by means of a spigot 10 projecting from one end of the front longitudinal member 4 and having a transverse groove 12 in its end face, which spigot is received in an open end of the front member of the adjacent soldier having a pin 20 fixed transversely therein to mate with the groove 12 and form an abutment for the spigot, which is thereby located such that transverse holes 22, 24 in the spigot and in the open end are aligned, and a securing pin is then inserted through these holes. The spaced-apart ends of the rear longitudinal members 2 of adjacent soldiers are connected by members of adjustable length, e.g. screw jacks, which may each comprise a pair of telescoping tubes, the inne tube having a transverse pin extending outwardly through a slot in a screw-threaded portion of the outer tube which carries two nuts, one on each side of the pin, or a pair of oppositely screw-threaded rods connected by a nut. Such adjustable members may have a transverse opening to facilitate the installation of the formwork ties.
