Abstract

1361143 Feeding mechanism for presses MASCHINENFABRIK WEINGARTEN AG 14 Jan 1972 [16 March 1971] 1848/72 Heading B3Q A press line for sheet metal parts includes a withdrawable transfer unit between adjacent presses which is driven by the presses, the unit including extraction, transportation and insertion devices. In the example, pressings 32, Fig. 1, are withdrawn from a press 1 by grippers 6, transported along stationary rails 33 by arms 34, inverted on the rails by a turnover arm 42, Fig. 5, further transported by arms 34 and inserted in the next press 2 by grippers 7. The grippers 6 and 7 and arms 34 are mounted on two slides 29, 53, Fig. 4, which are driven independently by the presses 1, 2, the drive for slide 29 from press 1 being through an Oldham coupling to a shaft 10. This is geared to a shaft 21 carrying a cam 20 which drives a lever 23 carrying a rack 25. The rack engages a pinion 26 coupled to a further pinion 27 in engagement with a rack 28 fixed to the slide 29. A doubleacting pneumatic cylinder 24 keeps the lever 23 against the cam 20 and may move the slide when the transport unit has been removed from the presses, along rails (3), Fig. 3 (not shown). The slide is guided by rollers 30 for vertical movement at the end of each traverse, the movement being effected by cams (not shown). A similar drive for the slide 53 is taken from the press 2. A turnover arm 42, Fig. 5, is mounted on each side of the transfer path and each carries an inwardly-directed gripper (Fig. 3), the arms being interconnected by gearing and a shaft 43 are driven, through an arcuate rack 48, by cams 45, 46 on the shaft 10. The transfer unit is moved along the rails (3) by gearing driven by an air motor, stops being provided on the rails to which the unit is attached by screws.
