Abstract
1359748 Digital computers INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 22 Feb 1972 [23 Feb 1971] 8043/72 Heading G4A To produce correct output data on channels K1-Kn, e.g. for railway signalling, input data DE is fed to three identical digital computers R1-R3, the coutputs of which are compared in unit UAV (Fig. 2, not shown) so that an erroneous computer can be disconnected and correct data from the other two can pass to channels K1-Kn. The unit UAV has three comparators which compare the outputs from three possible pairs of computers and a majority decision is taken on correctness. Each computer delivers a message having an information part and a test part. Where two computers are correct the output on channels K1-Kn may comprise the information part from one computer and the test part from the other. The unit UAV may be checked periodically by false test bits which, however, are not passed to the channels K1-Kn.
