Abstract

1359565 Steam boilers WAAGNERBIRO AG 15 Aug 1972 [25 Aug 1971] 38091/72 Heading F4A In a steam boiler having a pair of oppositely disposed load-bearing tube walls 24 connected to headers 11, 13 and 12, 14, respectively, the two walls 24 and/or the headers are coupled together across the boiler by tension coupling means in the form of connecting tubes 1-8 at the top and 9, 10 at the bottom of the boiler and connected by tension straps 15 leading from the headers 11, 12; 13, 14. As shown in Fig. 2, the connecting tubes are formed in two levels with webs 17 connecting the tubes 1, 1<SP>1</SP> and 2, 2<SP>1</SP> &c. substantially at the height of the boiler drum 16. The structure thus forms a load-carrying grid structure which can carry the roof tubes, superheater tubes, coolers, superheater headers and control means. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the tension straps 15 may be replaced by flexurally rigid members (18).
