Abstract

1358912 Pile fabrics FORSCHUNGSINSTITUT FUR TEXTILTECHNOLOGIE 6 Sept 1971 41372/71 Heading D1K A simulated corduroy is made by stitched pile material 2 to a base fabric 1 and severing the pile material between the rows of stitches to form pile tufts 2a, 2b. Each stitch is inserted between the legs of the tufts so that each leg is individually stitched to the base fabric and the loops 2c of the tufts extend in the same direction as the stitches. The pile material zig-zags between adjacent rows of stitches and two rows of different coloured pile material, Figure 4, may be utilised. The pile may be laid over warpwise pile wires before cutting.
