Abstract

1358872 Bearings W SCHAEFFLER and G SCHAEFFLER 30 June 1971 [29 July 1970] 30702/71 Heading F2A A roller bearing having an outer race 1 with radiallyinwardly projecting rims 2,3 comprises an apertured sheet metal cage 5, the side-rings 6 of which are located radially within and spaced from the said rims, and the webs of which are cranked; the portions 8 of the webs guide the cage on the rollers, and the portions 10 retain the rollers against movement radially inwards. The portions 8 may be provided with guide surfaces by stamping. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown), the side-rings lie within the pitch circle and the webs are doubly cranked so that the portions 8 lie outside the pitch circle.
