Abstract
1358415 Refrigerating T KAWAI 3 Sept 1971 41272/71 Heading F4H A system for indirectly cooling a drinking fluid, e.g. water comprises a freezer tank 10, a coil 13 through which the drinking water can pass to a tap 17, a coil of tubing 12 adjacent the said coil 13, and a refrigeration unit for circulation of a liquid refrigerant through said coil 12. In operation, brine located in the tank 10 forms an ice block around the evaporator coil 12 of the refrigeration unit and packs around the coil 13 of drinking water. Consequently, no matter what temperature the water is as it enters the coil from the municipal water source 16, a constant temperature is provided at the top 17. In other embodiments, the drinking water may be disposed within a closed container (see Fig. 2) surrounded by the freezer tank, or in an open container (see Fig. 3) surrounded by an open freezer tank, both container and freezer tank having a combined cover.
