Abstract

1358230 Trouser presses SINRAM & WENDT 24 March 1972 [27 March 1971] 14021/72 Heading D1A A trouser press comprises two pressing plates of which at least one plate is electrically heated and comprises as shown in exploded cross-section back and front plates 13 and 20 respectively made of chipboard or plywood and having an electrical resistance heating sheet 28 and a heat-insulating plate 24 located therebetween, the outside of the front plate 20 being applied to the trousers in use. The resistance heating sheet 28 comprises a support layer 29 of paper and an electrically conductive heating layer 30 whose opposite edges carry terminal strips 35 for connection to a voltage source. The heat insulating plate 24 may be of polystyrene foam or asbestos. In alternative embodiments the resistance heating sheet 28 may be reversed so that the layer 30 faces the front plate 20 and an electrically insulating coating is applied to the inside of the front plate or an intermediate insulating layer disposed between the plate 20 and the sheet 28. A heat reflecting layer e.g. of aluminium may be located between the resistance heating sheet 28 and the heat-insulating plate 24 and an optional electrically insulating sheet may be interposed between said heat reflecting layer and the resistance heating sheet.
