Abstract

1357818 Dishwashing machines EUROPE MFG TRUST REG 24 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 44617/71 Heading A4F [Also in Division D1] A dishwashing or other washing machine comprises an additive dispenser having a hinged door 5 for closing off watertightly an additive compartment 6 from the washing chamber, and an electro-magnet 17, 20 operable to release a pivotal catch 11 to enable the door 5 to be opened by the action of spring means, the member 11 being surrounded by a seal 22 sealing off the electro-magnet 17, 20 from the washing compartment; and one end of the member 11 being exposed in the washing compartment whilst the other is acted upon, for maintaining the catch closed, by an armature 14, retracted from the member 11 when the electro-magnet is energized. When the electro-magnet is de-energized the catch 11 is reset by a spring 15 acting upon the armature 14 and/or by the resilience of the seal 22. Two springs 9, 10 Fig. 1, (not shown), on the hinge pin 8 of the door 5, bias the latter towards its open position. To facilitate opening of the door 5 the pressure on the two sides thereof is equalized on the initial opening movement when a door stud 27 is disengaged from a hole 28 in a rubber sealing member 23.
