Abstract

C. engine fuel injection; fuel injection pumps HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 8 Nov 1971 [30 Nov 1970] 51819/71 Headings F1B and F1A An apparatus to control the amount of fuel injected into an I.C. engine 1 comprises a diaphragm 14 which is subjected to intake suction and biased by springs 16, 17 when the suction is high, i.e. low engine load, and biased by the spring 16 alone when the suction is low. The biasing force of the spring 16 is reduced when the atmospheric pressure falls below a predetermined value by a device 23 which closes a switch 24 to energize a solenoid 25. The valve 22 operated by the solenoid 25 closes the connection of the chamber 21 to atmosphere and opens a connection to the intake suction so that the diaphragm 20, associated with the spring abutment 20a, moves the spring abutment against the bias of the spring 19. The push rod 13 positioned by the diaphragm 14 controls the axial position of a cam 12 rotating with the engine driven shaft 11 and operating the injection pump plunger 10.
