Abstract

1455301 Regulating IC engine fuel injection GKN TRANSMISSIONS Ltd 30 Jan 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 4765/73 Heading F1B A fuel injection apparatus Specification 1453055 is provided with means to temporarily increase the output of the metering means when the apparatus is started from rest. The apparatus as described in Specification 4763/73 is modified by adding a stop 54 which at rest assumes an upper position this allowing a greater stroke of the shuttle 52. The stop abuts a piston 65 which is urged upwardly by a spring 67 and downwardly by fluid from pump 18 supplied to the piston chamber via inlet 69. A constriction or valve (not shown) may be incorporated into the inlet so that the rate at which the stop 54 descends may be adjusted. Alternatively the valve may be made to open suddenly at a predetermined pressure, and the spring 67 may be made to have a snapaction.
