Abstract

1355937 Ratchet clutches L S WALLIS 7 Feb 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 5718/72 Heading F2C In a one-way clutch in which rollers 3 wedge between cam recesses in an inner driving race (2) and a cylindrical outer race (1), the rollers are urged towards a wedging position by an S-shaped spring 8 which acts between the rollers 3 and the end of the cam recess. The terminal portions of the spring are parallel and bear over their full length on the rollers and the wall of the recess. The spring is made from sheet steel or phosphorbronze.
