Abstract

698,317. Free-wheel clutches. FORMSPRAG CO. March 26, 1952 [April 23, 1951], No. 7793/52. Class 80 (ii). In a free-wheel clutch comprising sprags G engaging between cylindrical races A, B, the sprags are formed with axial pins G<SP>3</SP> pivoting in apertures in loose rings H, H<SP>1</SP> connected by cross bars H'. The rings frictionally engage that race A or B which is the driving race, and are located axially thereon by spring rings I. In Fig. 1, the inner race A is the driving race, while in Fig. 4 the outer race B is the driving race. An energising garter spring K is fitted.
