Abstract

1355794 Shredding apparatus FLETCHER & STEWART Ltd 23 July 1971 [30 April 1970] 20760/70 Heading B2A Shredding apparatus comprises a rotary blade assembly 8, Fig. 1, and an anvil cooperating with the blade assembly; the anvil comprising one or more cutting edges 6 located outside the orbit of the rotary blade assembly and extending parallel to the axis of rotation of the blade assembly. As described the anvil comprises three knife edges 6 interconnected by deflector plates 7. The assembly 8 comprises radially-extending blades 10, Fig. 2, spaced axially along a shaft 9 and angular-staggered relative to one another. In operation, material is supplied to the apparatus via a chute 5. Some of the material is thrown away from the blade assembly and below the first knife edge 6 where it is deflected by the plate 7 back into the path of the blades, and so on successively. Shredded material is discharged at 13.
