Abstract

1353054 Laminating press J BOBST & FILS SA 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 23397/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division B6] A laminating press comprises opposed platens 1 and 3 and means for intermittently feeding a predetermined length of foil B therebetween. The foil may be a blocking foil or a metallic material parts of which are arranged to be punched out and laminated to sheets 7 fed between the platens. The foils B 1 and B 2 are fed from reels 10, 10<SP>1</SP> by identical feed mechanisms each having a driven feed roller 15 and counter-pressure roller 16. The foils are tensioned about the platen 1 by more rapidly driven take-up roller 30 and counter-pressure roller 31. Rollers 37 and 38 with brush-like surfaces serve to eject used foil from the apparatus. The feed rollers 15 may be selectively connected to a series of cam operated chain drives (Fig. 2, not shown) which provide various intermittent drive periods thereby permitting various selected lengths of foil to be fed from the reels. The sheets 7 to be blocked or laminated are conveyed between the platens on gripper chains 5.
