Abstract

1350593 Joint-making packing; pipe joints PHETCO (ENGLAND) Ltd 30 April 1971 [3 Feb 1970] 5217/70 Headings F2B and F2G A sealing ring, particularly for a spigot and socket pipe joint, comprises a cylindrical body 10 having an outwardly directed flange 11 at one end, an inwardly directed flange 12 axially spaced from the flange 11 and inner and outer resilient sealing fins 14 and 13 respectively between the flanges 11, 12. The sealing fins are inclined towards the flange 12 which is chamfered as shown in Fig. 1. In use, Fig. 3, the ring fits between a soil pipe 15 and socket 16 with the edge of the flange 12 engaging the end wall 18 of the socket. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the body 10 has an extension 20 with outer sealing fins 22 for engaging a portion (17) of the pipe, Fig. 5 (not shown), the inner fins 22 are of triangular cross-section and a fin 23 is formed at the junction of the extension 20 and body 10. The sealing ring is of rubber or plastics.
