Abstract
1350575 Teaching warfare; practice cartridges P S CROWELL 19 April 1971 [8 April 1970] 16565/70 Headings F3C and F3A A cartridge device, for a firearm, comprises a casing 1, Fig. 1, which fits into the breech of the firearm (not shown) and which has batteries 2 housed therein, a metal stud 3 which is supported in an insulating block 10 and which is located at one end of the device so as to be struck by the firing pin of the firearm, a light bulb 5 which is located at the other end of the device, and an optical means for directing a beam of light down the barrel of the firearm. One of the batteries 2 abuts a spring 9 which is mounted on the stud 3, a nut 11 being mounted on the stud to prevent ejection of the screw by said spring. The block 10 is recessed at 16 so as to permit limited axial movement of the stud 3. The other battery connects, by means of a wire 7 to the light bulb 5. The wire 7 is passed through an insulating covering 8 which is mounted in a metallic plug 4 screwed into the casing 1. The optical means comprises a member 12, Fig. 4, having a focusing lens 14 mounted therein by means of pins 15 and having portions 13, Fig. 5, formed so as to effect gripping when the member 12 is positioned on the plug 4. The electrical circuit is closed when the firing pin of the firearm engages the screw 3, the plug 4 serving as a connection between the batteries and the firearm.
