Abstract

1350007 Sewing machine VIRGINIO RIMOLDI & C SpA 10 Nov 1971 [18 Nov 1970] 52236/71 Heading D1G In a zig-zag sewing machine the drive to its oscillating two motion looper includes a speed varying device causing the looper to traverse the path in opposite directions at different mean speeds. The loop engaging motion A of looper 28 is provided by the axial movement of shaft 46; the needle avoiding motion by angular oscillation of that shaft from an eccentric 48 on the main shaft 4. The variable speed device comprises shafts 32, 35 having parallel, spaced axes, a crank pin 37 on one shaft 32 engaging a fork 39 on an arm 40 attached to the shaft 35. Shaft 32 is driven from shaft 4 by a 2:1 reduction gearing. 30, 31 while shaft 35 drives a shaft 36 through a 1:2 step-up gearing 33, 34. The shaft 36 is connected to shaft 46 to oscillate it lengthwise, by linkage 41-45. The shaft 4 also drives through mechanism (11, 10, 5, 10a, 11a, Fig. 2 not shown) an arm shaft (12) and a needle bar (24) disposed in a gate (23) secured to an axially slidable shaft (21). The latter is oscillated, to move the needle laterally, by mechanism (15-20) driven from the arm shaft.
