Abstract

1348722 Ventilator head MACHINEFABRIEK EN HANDELMAATSCHAPPIJ "WINEL" BV 2 Sept 1971 [2 Sept 1970 3 March 1971] 41054/71 Heading F4J A ventilator head for the vent pipes of ship's tanks comprises two housing chambers 1, 2 arranged one within the other, the outer chamber 1 connectable with a vent pipe by means of a' connecting piece 3. The two chambers have a common partition 5, which has a communicating orifice 6 in the upper part adapted to be closed by a ball float 8 in the inner chamber 2 on the entry of water. The inner chamber 2 has outlets (10) (Fig. 2, not shown), with coarse mesh grids mounted on three sides of the ventilator head. A hood 7 of flame-arresting gauze is provided in the chamber 1. In further embodiments (not shown) a plurality of inner chambers are provided arranged around the perimeter of the outer chamber.
