Abstract
1348594 Rolling mills SCHWERMASCHINENBAU - KOMBINAT " ERNST THALMANN " MAGDEBURG VEB 15 March 1972 12190/72 Heading B3M A strip rolling mill includes a pair of work rolls 1 driven frictionally by main backing rolls 5, offset from the vertical plane through the axes of the rolls 5, and laterally supported by intermediate rolls 2, backing rolls 3 and castors 4. The rolls 2 and 3 are so mounted in respective arms 6, Fig. 3, that they can be readily removed from the mill. The arms 6 each maintain the respective sets of rolls 1, 2 and 3 in a common frame. The backing rolls 3 are urged against the main backing rolls 5, and have their ends linked by plates 17 to the shafts supporting the castors 4. To remove the rolls 2 and 3, links 42 (Fig. 1), the plates 17 and guard rings are removed, and the assembly 47 is moved to the dotted position shown. To permit removal of the work rolls 1, piston-rods 33 are shifted to the left of the work rolls to the dotted position 46.
