Abstract

1347339 Extruded sliding clasp fastener tape LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd 8 Oct 1971 [26 Oct 1970] 46935/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division E2] An extruded thermoplastics sliding clasp fastener tape, comprises a flat web portion 2, Fig. 1, and a bead portion 3 surrounding a preformed thread 4 incorporated during extrusion when the thread 4 and thermoplastics issuing from the die are drawn from the die under constant tensions. The thermoplastics may comprise PVC, and the cord 4 may be of cotton. The bead 3 and thread 4, Fig. 1, may be of circular section, when individual metallic fasteners are secured along the bead 3 at gripping legs 5a, 5b. Alternatively, Fig. 2, the fastener may comprise interconnected elements 6 formed from plastics filament formed into a folded meander structure, the cord 8 preferably being of synthetic material and, with the bead 7, being of rectangular section to facilitate the attachment of the elements 6, by securing with thread 9 to attach fastener legs 9a, 9b on opposite sides of the bead 7.
