Abstract
1346653 Measuring railway track parameters F PLASSER 2 July 1971 [9 July 1970] 31049/71 Heading G1N In a self-propelled machine for determining twist of a railway track, relative inclination of two track-feeling axles or axle assemblies is converted into a corresponding electrical signal by an inductive displacement transducer 22, 23. In Fig.2, diagonal bars 18a, 18b are pivotally connected by ball joints 20 at one end and levers 19 at the other end to the track-feeling axles, one of which is part of a non-load-bearing trackfeeling wheel assembly 6<SP>1</SP> and the other of which is a main load-bearing axle 2<SP>1</SP> supporting the undercarriage of the machine, whereby twisting of the track under load can be measured. The armature 22 of the transducer is connected to one bar 18a and the other bar 18b carries two coils (25) in a stainless steel housing 23. In Fig.2a, two non-load-bearing track-feeling axles 9, 9<SP>1</SP> are connected to the transducer via levers 24a, 24b. The coils (25, Fig.5, not shown) of the transducer are connected with two resistors in a bridge circuit energised with stabilised alternating voltage and connected via an amplifier (26) to an indicator (12) and recorder (13). The machine may also include means for measuring versine, joint dip and gauge, and a computer. A machine for correcting rail position may be automatically controlled. The track-feeling wheels are hydraulically raised off the rails during non- measuring transit.
