Abstract
1346252 Photographic light sensitive heatdevelopable materials EASTMAN KODAK CO 27 May 1971 [3 June 1970] 17631/71 Heading G2C Photographic light-sensitive, heat-developable materials contain a light-sensitive compound such as a silver halide, a reducible heavy metal salt such as silver behenate or a mercury or gold organic acid salt, a reducing agent for the heavy metal salt such as a bis-naphthol reducing agent optionally together with a silver halide developing agent and, to stabilize the image and reduce background stain, a compound of one of the formulae:- where Z completes a five-membered nitrogencontaining ring e.g. thiazole, thiadiazole, or tetrazole, R 1 is alkyl or substituted alkyl of up to 10C, -(CH 2 ) n COR 3 or aryl or substituted aryl of 6 to 12C, R 2 is -(CH 2 n COR 3 , n is 0 or 2 and R 3 alkyl or substituted alkyl of up to 5C, aryl or substituted aryl of 6 to 12C or furyl. On exposure to light, the material can be developed to form a stable image by heating. Other constituents present in the material include activatortoners e.g. phthalimide and its K, Ag and Hg salts, succinimide and N-hydroxy-succinimide and solvents such as tetrahydrothiophene-1:1- dioxide, 4-hydroxy-butanoic acid lactone and methylsulphinylmethane.
