1345484 Hulling grain T SATAKE 21 March 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 13266/72 Heading A2Q A device for hulling grain comprises a casing of which the top plate has a passage for the supply into the casing of unhulled grain, two or more hulling rolls positioned inside the casing and beneath the passage, and support members suspended from the top plate serving as bearing means for the rolls. The casing defines beneath the rolls a space through which grain delivered from the hulling rolls, can pass. Air may be passed through the space at an angle to the direction of delivery of the grain, to sort the grain by weight. A suitable device is shown in Fig. 7. In operation, handle 19 is turned thus operating a screw 26 (Fig. 6, not shown) to adjust support member 5' (Fig. 6) and hence movable roll 22 to a desired small distance from fixed roll 20. Unhulled grain is delivered by gravity from supply hopper 3 to the rolls for hulling. The hulled grain then passes to chamber 37. Air traverses this chamber from gauze A. Cereals of higher specific gravity pass to duct 38 and grains of a lower specific gravity will pass across a short distance in the air flow to duct 39. Chaff is carried across to duct 40.
