Abstract
1344917 Alloys: sintered superalloys LATROBE STEEL CO 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970 (3)] 21898/71 Headings C7A C7D and C7X A readily workable, heat resistant alloy suitable for service as a thermal member for extended periods of time under conditions of high stress and elevated temperatures is produced as follows: A prealloyed powder which has been rapidly quenched to solidify molten particles with a dendrite arm spacing of less than about 0À003" is prepared from a molten alloy consisting of 0-0À45%C., 5-24%G, 0À5-10% Mo. 0-6%Al, 0-5%Ti, 0-6%W, 0-6%Nb, 0-6%Ta 0-0À025%B, the balance being a mixture of at least two of Fe, Co, Ni and impurities such that the alloy contains at least 21%Co or at least 15%Fe or at least 25%Ni. The -80 mesh powder is compressed and mechanically hot worked on a Mo lined "INCONEL" (TRADE MARK) can at 2050‹F. to produce an alloy product having a density substantially equal to that of the cast alloy. Hot working is effected by forging, melting, extruding or isostatic compacting.
