Abstract
1344460 Rolling mills NIPPON STEEL CORP 30 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969 26 Feb 1970 9 Oct 1970 1 Dec 1970 (3)] 61798/70 Heading B3M [Also in Division C7] A rolling mill for temper rolling steel sheet in a continuous annealing line, and having provision for rapid roll replacement, includes back-up rolls 35, 36 in chocks 31, 33 and work rolls 39, 40 supported on shafts 41, 42 in chocks 37, 38; chocks 31 are supported on cylinders 44, chocks 33 on balancing cylinders 45 and chocks 37 by cylinders 46. Mounted on the base of chock 38 are wheels 47 which engage rails 48 when the latter are raised by cylinders 54 so that the work roll assembly may be ejected from the mill on to frame 49<SP>1</SP> by the action of ram 52 which simultaneously introduces a replacement assembly from frame 49. In the modification of Fig. 10, the upper and lower work roll chocks 64, 66 are independently mounted for movement on rails 59, 61 supported on the upper back-up roll chock 58 and frame projection 60 respectively. Frames 49, 49<SP>1</SP> have upper and lower rails 56, 56 which can be aligned with rails 59, 61.
