Abstract
1344444 Drawing A V ANISIMOV O J ILIN and V Y SHAPIRO 13 April 1972 17151/72 Heading B3P A die for drawing sections comprises an adjustable die orifice formed by at least two inserts 4 attached to jaws 2, an hydraulic cylinder 7 having a hollow piston-rod 9 and piston 8 for moving the jaws 2 in a die housing 1 at an angle to the drawing axis and an apertured flange 12 adjoining the jaws 2 at one end and connected to the piston 8. The inserts 4 and gaskets 5 are secured by wedges 3 in slots of the jaws 2 to form a T-shaped die orifice, the jaws 2 being prevented from turning in bores of the housing 1 by keys 6. The flange 12 is connected to the piston 8 by studs 13 surrounded by springs 14 which bias the jaws 2 to the open position. In operation, a non pointed section to be drawn is passed through the die (from right to left, Fig. 1) and gripped by a drawing carriage. The inserts 4 are moved by the piston 8, into engagement with the section whereupon the drawing carriage is moved causing the jaws 2 to be moved further leftwards into the desired final position determined by an adjustable nut 10 on the piston-rod 9 contacting the cylinder 7.
