Abstract

1343768 Cigarette-making machines MOLINS Ltd 19 April 1971 [20 March 1970] 13623/70 Heading A2C In a continuous-rod cigarette-making machine of the kind in which tobacco particles are carried upwards by air through a duct towards the undersurface of a suction conveyer band 4 against which a tobacco stream is built up, the particles are projected into the duct in a direction extending towards a side wall 14 of the duct which is formed with a pocket terminated at the top by a shoulder 16. The tobacco particles are projected into the duct by a ribbed roller 2, the heavier of the particles being arrested by the shoulder 16 and fall into a trough 40 while the lighter particles are carried up towards the band 4 by an air stream 20. The wall 14 is vertically adjustable and carries at its lower end a hinged flap 26 adjustment of which adjusts the size of a throat 22 through which the air stream 20 flows. As shown in Fig. 2, an aerofoil member. 48, the orientation and position of which may be adjustable, may be included in the lower part of the duct.
