1343363 Machine tool details INNOCENTI SOC GENERALE PER L'INDUSTRIA METALLURGICA E MECCANICA 31 Jan 1972 [31 March 1971] 4368/72 Headings B3C B3B and B3K In a boring or milling machine 1 or 4, Figs. 1 and 2, a tool 8, or a cutter head 9, can be attached to the headstock 3 or 7, by a device which comprises a first member 15, Fig. 3, adapted to be fixed to the headstock 3a, a second member 22 rotatably mounted on member 15 and carrying cutter head 9, and gearing 35, 33, 32, 30, 27, 24, driven by a motor 34, Fig. 4, for effecting angular displacement of member 22, members 15 and 22 having coaxial passages 16, 23, to allow the machine tool spindle 17 to be connected to the input drive of the cutter head. Teeth 36, Fig. 3, on spindle 17, co-operate with similar teeth on the input shaft of head 9, and the input shaft is coupled to the spindle by a pivotable lever. 37 actuated by movement of a cam 41 carried on boring spindle 18 of the machine tool. Two pulleys 42, 43, Fig. 4 are biased by a counterweight 46, and a flexible tube 47 wound on to the pulleys enables lubricant to reach cutter head 9. A damper 51 is provided and locks member 22 in its adjusted angular position. Instead of using a tool head 9, tool 8 can be connected directly with spindle 17 without members 15, 22 being removed, Figs. 13, 14 (not shown). Several interchangeable cutter heads may be provided, each of which is carried by a tool store. The latter comprises a polygonal frame 53, 54, 55, Figs. 5, 7, and four screwing-up heads 155 driven by motors 156. In operation, the headstock is moved up to a frame and the heads 155 engage bolts 57 carried by a cutter head 9. Further displacement allows cam 60 to actuate a switch 58 which starts motors 156 and the bolts are screwed into member 22. The cutter heads are of various types, Figs. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (not shown), and the machine is programme controlled.
