Abstract

1342458 Filling bags; feeding sheets NIPPON JIDO FUKUROZUMEKI MFG CO Ltd 28 April 1972 [28 April 1971] 19815/72 Headings B8C and B8R Bags are fed to a packaging apparatus by superimposing folded bags in a reservoir, raising one bag at a time by a first pneumatic suction means transferring in suspension the raised bag by a second pneumatic suction means to a position confronting a filling spout and opening the bag by a third pneumatic suction means to allow material to be packaged from the filling spout of the packaging apparatus. As shown, flattened valve bags 12 are each rotated to an upright position by a suction gripper 16, are transferred in that position to a suction gripper 22 which moves the bag between suction means 30 operable to open the valve for engagement by a filling spout 26. In an alternative arrangement Fig. 6(a)-6(d) the suction gripper 22 drops the bag into a support 36 and suction means 54 is engaged with the bottom of the bag simultaneously with the application of push members 56, 56 to the sides of the bottom whereby to open an inlet 28. The apparatus may be arranged to run on a track (60), Fig. 7 (not shown) relative to filling spouts (26) of a packaging machine and a single bag feeding apparatus (62) may be used with a packaging apparatus having filling spouts (26) to carry out sequential packaging operations.
