Abstract

1340117 Anchor bolts T R HOUSTON 30 June 1972 [14 July 1971] 33016/71 Heading F2H An anchoring device for embedding in concrete or other solidifiable mass comprises an elongate member 1 having indentations 3 in its peripheral surface for gripping the concrete and an attachment means 2 at one end which, in use of the device, protrudes from the concrete. The attachment means 2 may be provided by a threaded end portion 2 of a rod of circular crosssection, a hook or eyelet made by deforming the end portion of a rod, or a hole formed by transversely drilling the end portion of a rod. The indentations which may comprise a flat base 4 and curved or flat end portions 5 connecting the base 4 to the periphery of the rod are spaced axially of the rod and adjacent ones are arranged at diametrically opposed portions of the rod. The cross-section of the rod at the position of an indentation is larger than the smallest crosssection of the attachment means 2 so that when subjected to excessive shear forces the device would be unlikely to break other than at the attachment means 2.
