1339926 Formaldehyde BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 10 May 1971 [11 May 1970] 13960/71 Heading C2C In a process for the production of formaldehyde by oxidative dehydrogenation of methanol in the presence of a silver catalyst, 1 to 2 moles (based on 1 mole of methanol fed to the reaction) of the off-gas obtained after the separation of the major portion of the formaldehyde is treated with a basic compound and/or an oxidizing agent and then recycled to the reaction.
