Abstract
1366744 Decolorizing of cumene hydroperoxide RHONE-POULENC SA 26 Sept 1972 [27 Sept 1971] 44478/72 Heading C2C A process for decolorizing a concentrated solution of cumene hydroperoxide in cumene containing 60 to 75% by weight of hydroperoxide, which is obtained by washing with water or with an aqueous alkaline solution the oxidized product resulting from the oxidation of cumene with molecular oxygen followed by concentrating the hydroperoxide containing solution by distilling off part of the cumene, wherein the said concentrated solution of cumene hydroperoxide is treated at a temperature of 50‹ to 110‹ C. with an alkaline agent which is ammonia or a hydroxide carbonate or bicarbonate of an alkali metal, in an amount of 0À001 to 2% by weight relative to the weight of the concentrated hydroperoxide solution.
