Abstract
1339578 Photo-electrophoretic imaging apparatus XEROX CORP 21 Dec 1970 [29 Dec 1969] 60532/70 Heading G2H A photo-electrophoretic imaging apparatus comprises a rotatable transparent injecting electrode 4 which may be or form part of cylinder, a roller blocking electrode 2 mounted within said cylinder, and ink applicator roller 19, cleaning liquid applicator roller 42, knife edge 41, transfer roller 35 and cleaning roller 38 also mounted within said cylinder. A transfer web 25 enters through one end of the cylinder, is deflected by turning bar 26, passes under transfer roller 35 and is deflected by turning bar 28 out of the same or the other end of the cylinder. Turning bar 26 may be hollow and have ports therein for applying liquid to transfer web 25 to assist transfer. Rollers 35, 38 and 19 may be moved into and out of contact with the inside surface of electrode 4. The injecting electrode 4 may traverse the imaging roller more than once. Transparent or opaque originals are projected from outside the cylinder on to the nip formed between the roller electrode and the cylinder. The ends of the cylinder may be sealed apart from an exit and entrance for the transfer web so as to prevent escape of carrier liquid vapours.
