1339054 Granulating metals VOSTOCHNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY GORNORUDNY INSTITUT "VOSTNIGRI" 13 May 1971 14702/71 Heading C7X [Also in Division B2] Material is granulated by feeding a stream through a hollow, longitudinally movable electrode 6 into a space 8 between electrodes 6, 9 where the material is broken up by passing a current pulse along the stream and falls through orifices in a support 10 to an outlet 4. The stream may be a molten alloy of 85 Fe - 15 Si or a slurry of the alloy or silicon carbide in an insulating liquid e.g. liquified nitrogen or argon or hydrocarbons or water.
