Abstract

1337701 Mineral-mining installations HALBACH & BRAUN 6 Jan 1972 [6 Feb 1971] 576/72 Heading E1F A channel structure 3 for guiding a coal cutter along a sectionalised conveyer trough is for each length 4, 5 of conveyer trough subdivided into sections and adjoining section on adjacent trough lengths are joined together and aligned by a common linking bar 9 joining at least said adjoining sections. Preferably each trough length 4, 5 is provided with three sections 6, 7, 8 of which the two end sections 6, 8 are each only half as long as the middle section 7 to which they are connected by hinges 10 which permit swivelling of the end sections relative to the middle section about axes disposed parallel to the base of the associated trough length and at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the length. The hinges 10 may comprise knuckles on the middle sections 7 and embracing forks on the end sections 6, 8. Relative angular movement between a middle section 7 and the associated end sections 6, 8 is limited by pins 15. The sections may also have stops protruding outwards of the sections to engage in recesses in the conveyer lengths. At least some of the stops are dimensioned so as to leave a prescribed vertical clearance when they enter recesses. The sections associated with a trough length are held against the length by nuts on threaded bolts projecting through bushes welded in recesses in the length and flanged bushes in clearance slots in the sections. The linking bars 9, which are of flexible, resilient material, are attached to the middle sections 7 by ball joints. One of each pair of ball joints on a bar can be adjusted longitudinally of the bar.
