Abstract

1337474 Two-stroke I.C. engines VANDER VELL PRODUCTS Ltd 24 Feb 1972 [26 May 1971] 17305/71 Heading FIB The invention relates to two-stroke internal combustion engines of the kind having at least two mutually angled cylinders, 10, 11 containing pistons 12, 13, a crankcase 14 in which fuel/air mixture is compressed before admission to the cylinders for combustion. The engine shown is a V-twin two-stroke comprising a crank-shaft 15 having a single crank-pin 18 on which the two connecting rods 16, 17 are mounted, a circular sealing disc 19 being rotatably mounted on the crank-pin between the two connecting rods, the periphery of the sealing disc engaging the crankcase. The sealing disc is axially moveable on the crank-pin so that it engages against one side or other of the annular groove depending on which of the crank members is at the greater pressure. The periphery of the disc, also the bore therein, may be coated with polymeric material (19a), (19b(; alternatively the whole disc may be formed of such material.
